Tip - Who Wants Pizza?

Many couples struggle to decide whether to include children in their wedding celebration. This is certainly a personal decision and can be a touchy subject. It is socially acceptable to invite “adults only” to your wedding. If you do decide to include children, consider a finding a location that a great team of babysitters can entertain the kids. A pizza party with games and videos and entertainment at another location for the kids is always well received by the kids and the adults.
Another option is to hire an on-site adult babysitter to plan quiet activities in a special area of your reception site.

Also consider providing entertainment during your ceremony if you are having a long one. You can simply print out coloring pages from the internet and provide them each with a few crayons.

We opted for an adult only event, with few exceptions (my nephews and one kid on his side). It wasn't a problem. I have friends who wanted a kid free reception, but had lots of younger family who wanted to see the wedding, so they allowed kids to the ceremony then had a designated babysitting house near the reception where kids were dropped off while the adults had fun late into the night. It seemed to work well.

We too wanted an adult only reception, but the kids are invited to the ceremony. Since both events are taking place about an hour from Sacramento, we are having our babysitter drive my parent's minivan up to the ceremony site and whisking the kids back to to my parent's house for their own after party. We're providing the same favors as the adults, pizza, popcorn, ice cream and lots of movies. That should keep them occupied!
