Tip - Nurture Your Skin

Consult an esthetician and/or dermatologist months before your big day to get a skin regime in place. You want to be sure that you're not over or under doing your current skin routine and that you're using the right products for your skin type. If you can get a plan in place early, you could avoid dry patches, oily appearance or manic breakouts. Be sure to address your lips too. They're on your face and need just as much attention, especially as you get ready for that much anticipated kiss as husband and wife.

This applies for grooms too. You may not think your skin needs any attention but after some skin treatments with a professional, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Trend - Natural Nails

Natural, short nails with a fresh polish coat are in this year rather than long, acrylic sets. This natural beauty is easier to maintain too, with twice monthly manicures and daily moisturizing to keep your hands soft, glowing and healthy. (Don't forget your polish color in the emergency kit on your wedding day.)

Tip - Test New Makeup

Many brides plan to purchase new foundation, powder or bronzer for their wedding day, especially if they don't usually wear much makeup. Be sure to purchase your makeup at least one month in advance and consult a professional (if available) when picking out your shades. Purchasing your makeup in advance will give you an opportunity to test it out and make sure you like it, check that your skin doesn't have a reaction to it and no breakouts are caused. Plus, after practicing with it for that long, you'll know exactly how you want it to look on your wedding day.Photo courtesy of J Christiaan Salon & Spa

Tip - Manicure Maintenance

Always have your nails done the day of your wedding. All nail technicians would love to guarantee their work but in reality, natural nail manicures are prone to chipping within 24 to 48 hours. Don’t forget the importance of a beautiful pedicure, especially if your honeymoon includes walking barefoot on the beach together!

Ignite the Flame - Strut your Stuff

How often do you go to bed with a t-shirt on? Do you choose comfort over sexiness? One random night for no reason at all, surprise your husband with new lingerie. Show how confident you are and strut your stuff. Not many men will turn down the opportunity to see their wife surprising them with something new, especially if a routine has taken over. Add in a new element too, like candles or music.Photo courtesy of J. Christiaan Salon and Spa

Trend - Perfect Wedding Day Nails

Although French manicures/pedicures are classic, soften their look with OPIs Hearts and Tarts polish. Neutrals are fresh, clean and more natural. If you must get your nails done before your wedding day, always purchase the polish you use for last minute touch-ups. With this advice all the worrying that is done won’t be on your hands!

Tip - Tinted lashed won't run

To ensure that your mascara doesn't run when you tear up during the ceremony, have your lashes tinted by a trusted aesthetician a couple days before your wedding. The tinted lashes will also be a great substitute for eye makeup during your honeymoon.

Trend - Spa Bridal Showers

Spa themed bridal showers are becoming increasingly popular. Spa professionals can be hired to come into the host's home. The host can designate an area in the home to have manicures, pedicures and massages for the guests to enjoy. And there is no need to schedule the treatments, guests may partake in the pampering as they would like.

Trend - Soft, Natural Hair

Everywhere from runways to the most fashionable cities we see soft natural hair with shine and movement. This can be interpreted through soft loose curls with natural crown-lift for a beautiful daytime wedding, or by loosely pulling back soft large curls into an effortless up-do for a more formal, evening look. Always maintain good volume at the crown, as it translates better in print. Shiny, healthy tresses are a necessity, whether you wear your hair up or down.

Tip - Plan Your Look

Planning your entire look from dress to makeup and hair should begin once the date is set. Your hair should compliment you and your dress and should even go so far as to incorporate your wedding location, season and time of day. You want a look that will be fresh and timeless, remembering that this special day, unlike any other will be captured in photos and video.

Tip - Start A Skin Care Routine

On the day of your wedding you’ll want your skin to look radiant. To achieve this, start routine facials several months prior to your big day. Discuss your skin concerns and problem areas with your esthetician. She can then help you with an at-home skin care regimen for optimal results.
With some skin care products you’ll need a few weeks for your skin to become acclimated, so allow time for this in your schedule. Be sure to try new products well in advance of your wedding day in case your skin has a reaction.

Trend - Bronzing Treatment

Planning a spring wedding? Beautiful skin is always in. Schedule a Body Bronzing treatment 24 to 48 hours before your celebration. You can get a full body exfoliation followed by a detailed and thorough application of instant bronzing lotion. You will glow with soft, supple, sun-kissed skin.

Trend - Skin Exfolients

Microdermabrasion and peels have become very popular for the bride-to-be. These exfoliants can help transform your skin to a fresh, soft and even texture. It is recommended that brides have these treatments done at least one week before the wedding. This will ensure that your skin will not look irritated or red…just simply beautiful.

Tip - Embrace Your Key Features

When deciding your wedding day look, accentuate your best features. Keep in mind you want to balance your appearance; if a bride has beautiful eyes, play up the eye make-up and have more subtle lips. Brides with glowing skin and great bone structure should use highlighting techniques to enhance this beauty. Have your make-up done professionally a few weeks prior to the big day.
This way you can see how the make-up looks in certain lighting and how long the make-up will last. Most importantly, forego current fashion “trends” and go for a classic look. When you look back on your wedding photos years from now you want to see a bride whose beauty is timeless.

Trend - Lengthening Lashes

We see many brides opting to wear false eyelashes on their wedding day. Don’t wait until the last minute to try out this dramatic look.
It is easier and less stressful to have a professional apply the lashes and to test which lash glue works best for you. Using individual false lashes is best. They lend themselves to a softer, more natural look.
