Tip - Consider Alterations Carefully

You've found the perfect wedding dress and now it just needs the perfect fit. Ask your bridal salon who they recommend and ask that seamstress for referrals or to see recent work they've done. While it may sound silly, you have spent too much money on this amazing dress for someone to potentially ruin it. Also, ask your recently married friends who they worked with and their experience.

In the Sacramento area? Consider Alterations by Patina.

Tip - Be Prepared For Emergency Repairs

Bustle emergency repair is a common problem. Extra large safety pins can fix a bustle that has inadvertently been stepped on and torn. Make sure that someone near by is armed with your emergency bridal kit.

Trend - Maids Dress Mods

Bridesmaids’ dresses can be made in the same color scheme with style modifications or multi color options with a noticeably similar style. All can usually be modified to fit the needs of each maid. Spaghetti straps, shoulder straps or halter top can be made removable. Some dresses can also be altered into a two piece if necessary.

Tip - Don't Ditch Your 'Almost Perfect' Gown

If you found your “almost perfect” gown, but are concerned about having a shorter train or going sleeveless, talk to your alterations’ specialist. Changing the style of a garment is not impossible and can sometimes be as easy as removing a hemline. Just ask. It might not cost a fortune.

Tip - Plan Ahead When You Plan to Shed Lbs.

Planning to lose weight before your wedding day? Make your alterations appointment three months or more before your wedding if you are planning to lose weight. Once it’s known what alterations are needed, your alterations’ specialist should schedule at least one more appointment closer to your wedding, allowing time for additional alterations and pressing your wedding gown.
