Tip - Share Your Perfect Harmony

If you and/or your fiance are musically inclined, consider singing or playing instruments together. People will love to see you two in action and it's a chance to show everyone that you're in perfect harmony!

Tip - Let Loose (...A Little)

When doing posed pics for your wedding, be sure to get a few that showcase the wedding party's playfulness. You want everyone's personalities to show through and not have all images completely staged.Photo provided Profinish Design

Trend - Let Your Hobbies Shine Through

Include things in your wedding that are important to you as individuals and as a couple. If your fiance has been working on an old Chevy for years as a hobby, consider using that as your get away vehicle. If you both love riding bikes together, consider having your bikes out in front of the reception with a basket of blank cards where guests can fill out their best wishes and hang them from your bike.Photo provided by Profinish Design

Tip - Talk To Your Groomsmen

Grooms, make sure to talk to your groomsmen about what's expected from them on the day of your wedding. If you have a pal that things 2 day stubble is sexy and you don't, don't be shy..tell him! If your best man thinks the trip to Cancun story when you both got arrested makes for great public humor, stop him. Don't feel bad; who knows what he'll ask of you on his wedding day.Picture provided by Profinish Design

Trend - Beautiful Boutonnieres

Ask your florist about doing boutonnieres for key men at your wedding that aren't in the wedding party. If you have an uncle that you are close to that's traveling to share your day, consider this simple touch to show him how much you appreciate him being there.

Tip - Ceremony Ushering

In all the plans sometimes the minor details are forgotten, like seating. Make sure you have ushers or someone to let people know which side to sit on for the ceremony or if it's open seating.Photo provided by Profinish Design

Trend - Cake...To Smash Or Not To Smash

While cake smashing has gained momentum as a trend, be sure to discuss with your fiance before hand how you both feel about getting cake smashed into your face. That's one surprise you definitely don't want at your wedding.Photo provided by Profinish Design

Trend - Historic Wedding

Are there landmarks in your city that help define it? Consider including these locations in your photos with you and your new husband, if they're not too far. Your photographer may have many creative ideas on how to incorporate the important couple and the historic location.

Introducing The Detonator

I am SO excited to be contributing to Dynamite Weddings as a recently engaged bride!! Here we are just moments after, on the coast in Big Sur!!
Here I was fooling around with the camera, practicing ring shots :)!
Since our engagement in November we are planning diligently to get married this August. It's been fun, but trying at the same time, working to keep perspective on what's important to us and still plan a really fun event! To read more about our engagement story, check out my past blog post.Photo provided by The Memory Journalists

I am excited to share that we are planning a real Dynamite wedding, meaning all the professionals involved so far are Dynamite Experts. The purpose behind Dynamite Weddings was to share tips, trends, bridal advice and recommend professionals that we would be honored to work with on our own wedding. Well, our wedding will be an opportunity to showcase a real Dynamite wedding where couples can see that those we recommend are truly trusted professionals. While Mr. Detonator and I would be grateful to work with all the Dynamite Experts, we could only choose a few for our 100 guest wedding. The experts we are excited to be working with are:

Bella Donna Bridal Salon
Blooms by Martha Andrews
Celebrations! Elegant Party Rentals
Profinish Design
Sheffield Multimedia
Stephanie J Designs
The Memory Journalists

Check back next week for my dress trials that have proved to be the most difficult part of this wedding so far!!

Tip - Be Dance Floor Ready

Remind your sweetie how many eyes will be focused on the two of you as you take the dance floor as husband and wife. This may make it easier for both of you to commit to dance lessons. Search your local dance studios to find a group lesson to save a few bucks vs. a private lesson. Most studios will let you sit in on a session to see if this is the class you want to take.

Tip - Referral A No, No

If you're meeting with a vendor and ask them for professional referrals in other areas and all they tell you are the current gossip about other vendors, be cautious. You want to make sure that you're selecting a team of professionals that can work together on the day of your wedding to pull of a flawless event. You don't want to play mediator on the day of your wedding. Professionals that are quick to refer other pros, in or out of their own arena, are those that you want to trust your special day to.

* To find a team of vendors that can work flawlessly together, take a look at our Dynamite Vendors!

Tip - Wedding Day Fireworks

Let's explode into the new year! The fireworks last night may have inspired this post.

While we know you'll have fireworks during your first kiss, consider fireworks for your reception. If you're looking to include fireworks at your wedding, check Party Pop or contact the American Pyrotechnics Association for information on vendors and availability in your area.

Cloud Nine - Girl's Best Friend

Now that you have an amazing ring that you want to sparkle forever, you need to be sure to care for it carefully. The purchasing contract may state that you must get your ring cleaned several times per year to maintain the warranty. Stay on top of getting your ring cleaned by a jeweler to make sure it stays sparkling and the setting is properly secured. Make sure you shield your ring from harsh cleaners and remove it during periods when there's the potential for it to get dirty.
